Commission scolaire de Laval (CSDL)
When the Commission scolaire de Laval decided to boost the efficiency and quality of their learning tools, the assignment went to Xerox.
Commission scolaire de Laval (CSDL) is the second largest school board in Quebec. With 44,000 students and 5,000 staff members at 150 points of service, it prints 90 million impressions per year. As a leader in the use of technology in learning, the school board wanted a document solution that would improve work quality, facilitate communications and save time, while taking into account the existing technology infrastructure and future improvements. Because of educational budget cuts, however, the CSDL had to be very creative in its approach. So the school board turned to its partner Xerox for a solution.

The Solution.
Since 1996, when they first outsourced their reprographic services to Xerox, the school board has enjoyed annual operations savings of at least $400,000. As a result, the Xerox team understood the CSDL operations and its aims for the future and offered a customized partnership solution that included hardware, software, training and support. Xerox installed a variety of equipment, including several multifunction Document Centers. The software included DocuShare, FlowPort, and DigiPath Professional.

The Results.
Equipment optimization and network integration reduced printing costs and paper consumption by more than 50% and faxing costs by at least 50%. Telecommunications costs have been significantly reduced through the use of FlowPort software. And teachers are now able to share ideas and knowledge with students over the web.
